Instagram August

I can’t believe August is already over, and that fall is officially here with September (even though I declared fall weeks ago). That also means I’m even closer to my due date, and this might just be the month I become a mother. Scary! And amazing of course.

Loads of random pictures this time, starting with my a few from my birthday on the 2nd. Then random new stuff, baby stuff and reading stuff.

Burgundy for autumn

Burgundy is one of the hottest trends right now. I’m not really one to follow trends. I think it’s tacky to go all out on every trend and idiotic to change your wardrobe every season. I do however sometimes like to incorporate certain trends into my personal style. Now there are plenty of ways to do this without buying loads of outfits, and being subtle with just a few (or even just one) items. If you don’t change your entire wardrobe, it will also be easier to transition into future seasons!

These are some of my favorite burgundy pieces right now. I would love to get my hands on the Miu Miu satchel, but it’s not exactly in my budget right now! I am however already wearing Black Cherry Chutney on my nails, a beautiful and sparkly deep burgundy shade. Nail polish is always a simple and cheap way to stay current!

My baby shower

I’m absolutely rubbish at taking enough photos when I should, like at my baby shower on Saturday. I had just a few friends over for cakes and games. I know it’s not kocher to throw yourself a shower, but I’m a control freak and there’s not really a history for baby showers in Norway. I didn’t expect gifts, but all the girls were too nice and my baby boy got both books and adorable clothes.

I didn’t do much of a theme, but I though blue and yellow duckies would be cute and ordered a few cake decorations of the internet a while back. I decorated these cupcakes myself, and I’m quite pleased since it was my first time doing something like this. I also made some cake pops, but no one will ever see pictures, they were that ugly!

By Malene Birger Fiurella blouse

When I found this blouse online earlier this week I knew right away I had to have it. I’m just a sucker for leopard print, always have been. It might sound silly to buy regular clothes when you’re pregnant, but I’m so sick of this big belly. Besides, it will be gone in a few months. Isn’t the bag too cute? I just had to show you.

I do love a good blouse, and I’ve decided it’s the best way to start my wardrobe. I’ve grown sick of buying cheap clothes and fall apart after a short time and I hate after one season. I want to invest in a great wardrobe og staples, and only buy a few season trend items in cheaper shops to mix it up. I want a quality wardrobe I can love for years, and let’s face it, when you spend more money you usually get a better fit. I wanted to start with blouses because you can wear them loads of different ways, but you just need a few pairs of pants and a few skirts and you can wear them with thousand of blouses (not that I want thousands, but you get my drift). I also got this Zara Medallion blouse last week, a season late I know, but I love the style and I’ll wear it next spring with white jeans, and the blue with black high waist jeans.

Christian Dior in baby blue

I pine for this baby blue duo from Christian Dior! I don’t think they’re actually a set, but who cares because they look so cute together. Piiiiiiiiiine I tell you! But my wallet would feel even worse if I actually bought them…

Should you be ashamed of your baby bump?

I was very (unpleasantly) surprised last week when I read on Perez Hilton that Tori Spelling had gotten some very rude comments on her wearing a bikini while pregnant. Uhm, what? Since when did baby bumps become offensive? She got comments like:

“Ewww. She’s pregnant! Cover that bump up! No one wants to see that!!”

“NOT motherly AT ALL.”

“She’s pregnant and wearing this? She’s just trashy and looks like a hooker!”

I can’t believe someone could say that to a pregnant woman trying to survive the summer heat. It sure as hell is not easy being pregnant, and we do get extra hot in the summer sun. Being pregnant is beautiful (even though we don’t always feel that way) and in no way something to be ashamed over. And covering up in shame would definetly send a bad example to her daughters if you ask me. I love Tori’s response, and I agree with her %100!

I have to say, I’m super proud of my bump.  Why should I be embarrassed and cover up something that’s the greatest gift a woman can experience? A pregnant woman in any shape or size is beautiful! Pregnancy is an amazing journey and we preggers should be able to show it off. I call it BUMP PROUD! Embrace your growing curves and bourgeoning belly.

Plus, we are hard at work baking a baby. It’s not easy! It’s tough. We have aches and pains and things happen to our bodies we never imagined, so we should have the same right - if not more - to dress how we want without judgment. Plus, I would wear either of those bathing suits before pregnancy (and I have! Plus, the monokini is vintage and 70’s crochet chic) so why shouldn't I be able to now just because I have a big baby belly?

And, as for setting an example as a mother- please. I’m making a conscious choice to show my daughters that they can express themselves and be proud as a woman of their bodies. I don't ever want them to think that they should be ashamed of or self-conscious of their bodies, no matter what shape it's in.

I think everyone needs to give pregnant women a break and understand that pregnancy is a very special and personal experience for a woman. I'm all about encouraging pregnant women everywhere to wear your Bump Proud!!

I assure you something like this would never happend in Norway. If someone did take offence, they sure as hell would keep it to themselves! Here you see pregnant women on every street corner, they’re so many it’s like we’re taking over the country! I do remember hardly seeing any pregnant women in Italy this past July, which I found strange. Do pregnant women in other countries go into hiding for nine months? I did see one other pregnant woman at the beach, but she was pretty covered up. I on the other hand wore my little bikini not thinking anything of it. I did get a few looks, but I don’t know if that was because of my bump, my milky complexion and red hair or my stretch marks. Either way I don’t care, I’m proud to be pregnant!

New Chloé bracelet

With all my gift certificates I could finally get the Chloé bracelet I’ve been drooling over for months today. It’s soooo pretty! I was planning on picking up the brown one, but ended up with orange which suited my skintone the best. It’s subtle and chic, and I can wear it with anything!

My kiddy birthday party

Even though I couldn’t have a crazy party, I still had to celebrate my birthday. I always have and I bet I always will. I’ll take any excuse to have a party and eat some cake. I didn’t want a big party, so I invited just a few of my closest friends here in Bergen for a childrens party! If I’m staying sober, why not go all out and party like a kid instead? If I needed an excuse I could just pretend we were preparing for our sons future birthdays, but all of my close friends know I love silly things like this.

Balloons mark the spot! We also went a little nuts in the party supply aisle of Toys ‘R’ Us.

DSC_0561

Hadn’t it been for the fact that I’m so fat I would have made everyone dress up as princesses too! But we did have loads of sugar with my fave soda (it’s pink!), jell-o, a big cake and of course hot dogs.

Before the party everyone had asked me what I wished for, and me not having any shame I told them all I wanted gift certificates to my favorite store in town so I could get a bracelet I’ve been lusting over for months. And wouldn’t you know I now have a stack of gift certificates to spend tomorrow! Can’t wait to pick it up and of course I will show you when I get home!

Meanwhile, in Bergen

it hasn’t been the most exciting Friday here in Bergen. I’ve spent most of the day preparing for my little birthday party, and I also stopped by a party for a friend of mine who’s moving away on Monday. But I’m not really a good party girl here with my big, sober belly!

Oh and I also got my hair cut yesterday! It felt so great, I hadn’t done it since October and any sort of hair do was long gone. It was my lovely hubby who treated me, I think he knows how much the little things mean when you just feel fat and bloated.

7 things I look forward to post-pregnancy

I’ve been pregnant now for over seven months, and I have to be honest and admit it’s been taking it’s toll on me. Getting bigger and bigger every days means I am less able to do everything I usually can.

Of course I don’t have to tell you that the one thing I look forward to the most is meeting my little son and just being his mom, but this is about those little things that  you don’t think you will miss before you get pregnant.

1. Shopping for clothes (and being able to wear them). Pregnant celebrities may look amazing in their designer clothes, but for us without that kind of income finding pretty clothes feels like a nightmare. I’m sick of leggings and t-shirts, and can’t wait to go shopping like a mad man after losing some baby weight.

2. Sleeping on my belly. What more can I say? I find it the most relaxing position when I’m trying to fall asleep and I haven’t been able to do it in months.

3. Wearing my Louboutins again. Selfexplanatory!

4. Cocktails. I never thought I would miss alcohol, the time before I got pregnant I hardly ever had any, but now that it’s off limits I seem to want delicious cocktails more and more.

5. Working out. Never once in my life did I think I would miss working out, getting me to the gym used to be a nightmare that didn’t happend nearly as often as it should. But nothing can beat that feeling you get after really pushing yourself to the max.

6. Being able to move. Not only is there orbit around my belly, but my hips are starting to really hurt and allot of the time I’m stuck to the sofa. I miss being able to pick things off the floor, dressing myself without pain, vacuuming and basically doing normal stuff without help.

7. Feeling sexy. It’s hard for me to admit it, but between morning sickness and fat ankles, I don’t think I’ve felt sexy once since getting pregnant. Everyone that’s met me knows that sexy is my thing, and it really makes me not feel like myself. Mama needs her groove back!

I bet every mom to be has her own little list, what’s yours?

Christian Louboutin Love Me

487312_10151091898156865_114288451_n

Christian Louboutin just posted this picture to their Facebook page a few days ago, and I fint it hard not loving this pair. I’ve been planning on wearing Loubies to my wedding since long before I met my boyfriend to say the least. It was love at first sight with this pair, but it might not be perfect for our wedding since we’re thinking about having it outdoors, which means flats for me. Louboutin flats of course! I can’t wait for him to officially propose (we’re not enganged, but we’re planning on getting married in a few years) so I can officially start planning our wedding! Waiting is no fun.

Happy Birthday to me!

It’s my 24th birthday and it’s been my best birthday so far. I’ve been nothing but spoiled, I’m just so lucky I can’t believe it.

I actually started the day without going to work, because we’re moving offices and I’m too pregnant. It was really relaxing, and I got to catch up on my TV-watching and knitting. I’d gotten a big box in the mail yesterday with prezzies for the baby from my mom who just visited Scotland, as well as the YSL Touche Eclait foundation which I’ve been wanting like a crazy person ever since getting a sample a few weeks ago. It’s crazy good!

When hubs came home from work I was ready to eat cake (I always make the same chocolate cake, it’s the one my mother’s been baking for all long as I can remember), but he wanted to give me gifts first! He found a box containing my favorite cream from La Mer, which you may now was on my little wishlist. Even though it’s a practical gift, it’s something I really wanted and couldn’t really afford, so I was super happy. Not to mention it’s really expensive!

But then he went to find another present and I was like “whaaaaaa?” and found a square orange box from it’s hiding place. He’d gotten me what I’ve been wanting for so long; a silk scarf from Hermès! I was pretty much speechless. It was on my wishlist as well, but he’d already picked it up on a trip to Oslo long before I made the list! But it’s not like I haven’t been talking about my love for the french fashion house forever. Can you believe how lucky I am?

The print is called ‘Ceintures et Liens’, and I think it might be a 2012 print but I’m not sure. It’s beautiful none the less and I hope I have something so timeless I can wear it with. One day I hope to have a collection of scarves, all perfectly folded in their little orange boxes of course!

We ended the day going out for steaks (my fave!), and then I drove for the first time! I got my learners permit about a month ago, but today was the first day I could legally drive our new car and I’d been dreading it for ages. But I’ve probably been so nervous, it was actually easier then I thought! I even used the gas, but 2nd gear is for another lesson. I can’t wait until I’m a master and can get my licence!

Who would have though getting older would be this great?
